Palominas Observatory Construction Images
Here is the first set of photos of the various stages of construction on Palominas Observatory Click Here to view photos. The building is 20 ft by 25 ft, with the roof rolling off to the north. The walls of the observatory are 6 ft. high. The main observatory room is 20 foot square, and the warm room is 5 ft. by 20 ft, with a 6.5 ft ceiling. This warm room, enclosed and insulated from the observatory, also functions as the control room for the LX200 10" remotely controlled, including the CCD imaging using an SBIG ST-8 camera. The largest telescope in the observatory is an Obsession 20" f/5 Dobsonian.
Palominas Observatory Under Construction
 | A photo of the Palominas Observatory under construction. The building is 20' x 25', and has a roll-off roof. It also has a 5' by 20' warm room. Completion date was September 23, 2000. Look at those 'clear' skies to the northeast! It was the same all over that day and many other days (and nights)! Monsoon season definitely chills out night time astronomy! |
Summertime in Arizona
 | Summertime in Southeastern Arizona at the Palominas Observatory. Very few clear nights from early July 2000 until? |
Night is My Companion
 | Night Is My Companion
No shadows fall where I stand, No sounds disturb my wonderland. The celestial dome is spinning its dance, Sweeping me up as in an avalanche. My companion lets unfold the Universe, The expanse of which I long to traverse.
I crest the night not knowing a dream, But of visions far greater supreme. The companion and I explore the deep, To forever treasure the mysteries it keeps. All too soon the cosmic dance is through, And I must wait for our next rendezvous.
