Dave Healy

pict0061.jpg Dave Healy is a HAC member with the good fortune and foresight to have an extraordinary observatory and four excellent telescopes at his dark sky observing site. We take a brief look at JBO, about 10 miles southeast of the town of Sierra Vista. JBO is owned and operated by Dave Healy, and he also has his home on the property.

Dave is an experienced astro-photographer and has had several articles and many of his photos published in astronomy magazines and elsewhere. Dave hosts many of the the monthly Star Parties for the club, and many other observing events such as meteor showers, Messier Marathons, eclipses, and asteroid occultations.

Here is a photo of the growing JBO facility. Dave has had built a 16.5-foot diameter Ash Dome with a telescope control room. This dome is now home to a 32" Ritchey-Chretien Optical Guidance Systems (OGS) telescope. The telescope will be used for both imaging and visual work.
